FAMILY FRIENDLY DINING

After a full day of adventure (or just life) in Truckee-Tahoe, the kids have probably worked up quite the appetite. Luckily, finding a restaurant or dining spot that will appeal to everyone in the family is easy.  We’ve gathered a few of our family-friendly favorites to try in the area.

 

 

Pizza on the Hill in Tahoe Donner is the ultimate family-friendly restaurant. For starters, what kid doesn't love pizza? Or the famous POTH cookie?  The restaurant boasts TVs, outdoor seating, a play structure, and an interactive playroom with dome hockey, foosball, shuffleboard, and dart lanes–almost too much fun!

 

For food-loving kids, Truckee Tavern offers an array of options the young foodie-in-the-making will love. Besides an awesome kid-specific menu, your more adventurous children have loads of delicious and healthy options, from grilled meats to pasta and even vegetables.

 

Jax at the Tracks is a quintessential old-school diner, the setting and offerings are right up any kids’ alley – shakes, pies, and a menu filled with comfort food favorites. This cozy restaurant occupies a beautifully restored 1948 diner and along with all the classics they have many unique creations such as The All Day Addiction (Eggs, hash browns, Canadian bacon, avocado, and roasted tomatoes), Kobe meatloaf, and spicy mac 'n cheese.

 

Located on the main thoroughfare of downtown Truckee, Burger Me is a convenient, kid-friendly food spot. Rated one of the best burger places in the Lake Tahoe Area and featured on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives", Burger Me's burgers are made with all-natural ingredients and the sweet potato fries or onion rings are a must-try. The refurbished building with retro styling is a great hangout, but you can also get your burgers to go and enjoy them at your favorite outdoor spot, or sit on the outdoor patio in the summer months. Burger Me to-go is always a great option, too.

 

Silver dollar pancakes or yummy scrambled eggs? Yes, please! Fire Sign Cafe is located on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and has something for everyone, as both breakfast and lunch are served all day long. After breakfast, there are many beaches and trails to explore just steps away.

 

In the heart of Tahoe City along the bike path and the shores of Lake Tahoe sits Jake’s on the Lake, a North Tahoe family favorite for over 40 years. The combination of their more casual cafe menu and fine dining dinner menu provides lots of options for any dining situation. In the warmer months enjoy a beverage on the grassy knoll in front of the restaurant and take in the energy of the waterfront action.
